1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using InferrLM ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access or use the App.

These Terms apply to all users of the App, whether using local AI models without an account or cloud-based models with an account.

2. Account Registration and Security

2.1 Optional Account Creation

Account creation is optional. You can use local AI models without an account. An account is only required if you wish to use cloud-based AI models (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, DeepSeek).

2.2 Account Responsibilities

When you create an account with us, you must provide accurate and complete information. You are solely responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password
  • Restricting access to your device and account
  • Accepting responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
  • Securing your own API keys for third-party AI services
  • Complying with rate limiting and authentication requirements

We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove content at our sole discretion, particularly in cases of security violations or abuse.

2.3 Authentication Methods

The App offers multiple authentication methods:

  • Email and password authentication with verification
  • Google Sign-In
  • Apple Sign-In (iOS devices)

By using these authentication methods, you agree to comply with their respective terms of service. We implement security measures including rate limiting (5 attempts with 15-minute lockout) and email verification.

3. On-Device AI Processing and Local Models

3.1 Local AI Models

The App provides AI functionality that operates entirely on your device:

  • You may download and use GGUF format AI models available within the App from HuggingFace
  • Models run locally using llama.cpp inference engine
  • On compatible iOS devices, Apple Foundation models are supported
  • All conversations with local models remain on your device
  • You retain ownership of any content you create using these AI models

3.2 Model Usage Restrictions

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the AI models
  • Redistribute or commercially share the AI models outside the App
  • Use the models for illegal activities or to generate harmful content
  • Circumvent any usage limitations or safety features

3.3 Remote AI Models

The App supports optional integration with cloud-based AI services:

  • You must provide your own API keys for OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, or DeepSeek
  • Usage of remote models is subject to the respective provider's terms of service
  • You are responsible for all costs incurred through API usage
  • We do not store or have access to your API keys (stored locally in encrypted storage)
  • Conversations with remote models are transmitted directly to those providers

4. Features and Functionality

4.1 Document Processing and RAG

The App includes document processing features:

  • OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for extracting text from images and documents
  • RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) for enhanced context-aware responses
  • Local vector database storage for document embeddings
  • All document processing occurs on your device

4.2 Camera and Media Access

The App may request access to:

  • Camera for capturing images to send to AI models with vision capabilities
  • Photo library for saving captured images and selecting existing images
  • All media processing is done locally on your device
  • Images are not uploaded to our servers unless you use a remote AI model

4.3 Local Server Feature

The App includes an optional local HTTP server:

  • Runs on your device and exposes REST APIs on your local WiFi network
  • Allows access to your AI models from other devices on your network
  • You are responsible for securing your network and controlling access
  • You agree not to expose the server to the public internet without proper security measures
  • We are not liable for any unauthorized access when the server is running

5. User Content and Conduct

You are responsible for all content you create, share, or transmit through the App. You agree not to use the App to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Infringe upon any intellectual property rights
  • Harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Distribute malware or engage in malicious activities
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or other users' accounts
  • Generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content using AI models
  • Abuse the local server feature to distribute prohibited content
  • Circumvent security measures or rate limiting

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 App Ownership

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by InferrLM and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 AI Model Licenses

AI models available for download are subject to their respective licenses:

  • Models are sourced from HuggingFace and other open-source repositories
  • Each model has its own license terms (MIT, Apache 2.0, etc.)
  • You are responsible for complying with individual model licenses
  • Some models may have restrictions on commercial use

6.3 User-Generated Content

You retain all rights to content you create using the App. However:

  • Content created using AI models may be subject to the model's license terms
  • You grant us a license to use anonymized usage data for service improvement
  • You may not modify, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App itself

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services:

  • Firebase Authentication and Firestore for account management
  • Google Sign-In and Apple Authentication providers
  • HuggingFace for model downloads
  • OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, and DeepSeek APIs (when you provide API keys)
  • IP geolocation services for security monitoring

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party service availability, reliability, or data practices.

8. Device Permissions

The App requires certain permissions to function properly. By installing and using the App, you grant permission for:

  • Storage access to store AI models, chat history, and document embeddings locally
  • Network access for authentication, model downloads, and remote AI services
  • Camera access for capturing images (optional, requested when needed)
  • Photo library access for saving and selecting images (optional)
  • Local network access for the built-in HTTP server feature (optional)
  • Notification permissions for download completion alerts (optional)
  • Background task permissions for continuing downloads (optional)

You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings, but this may impact App functionality. The App will request permissions only when needed for specific features.

9. Data Storage and Privacy

9.1 Local Data

Most data is stored locally on your device:

  • AI model files
  • Chat conversations with local models
  • Document embeddings and RAG databases
  • App settings and preferences
  • Usage analytics (session counts, usage time)

9.2 Cloud Data

If you create an account, the following is stored in our cloud services:

  • Account information (email, display name, verification status)
  • Authentication timestamps and security logs
  • Device information for security monitoring

9.3 Data Security

We implement security measures including encryption, secure storage, and rate limiting. However, you acknowledge that no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, InferrLM shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from:

  • Your use or inability to use the App
  • Any content generated by AI models
  • Model download failures or storage issues
  • Unauthorized access to your local server or network
  • Third-party service outages or data breaches
  • Loss of data stored on your device
  • Costs incurred through third-party API usage
  • Any other matter relating to the App

You use AI-generated content at your own risk. We do not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or appropriateness of AI-generated responses.

11. Warranties and Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Accuracy or reliability of AI-generated content
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Model availability or performance
  • Compatibility with all devices
  • Freedom from viruses or harmful components

12. Service Modifications

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the App or any part of it with reasonable notice
  • Update the App to add, remove, or modify features
  • Change the available models or download sources
  • Update these Terms and Conditions at any time
  • Implement usage limits or restrictions for security or performance reasons

We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the App. Critical security updates may be applied without notice.

13. Termination

13.1 Termination by Us

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe:

  • Violates these Terms and Conditions
  • Is harmful to other users or the App
  • Exposes us to liability
  • Is fraudulent or illegal

13.2 Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Upon account deletion:

  • Your account data will be removed from our servers within 30 days
  • Local data on your device will remain until you uninstall the App
  • You may continue using local AI models without an account

13.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use cloud-based features will immediately cease
  • Downloaded models on your device may continue to function locally
  • Some provisions of these Terms will survive termination

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless InferrLM, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Content you generate using AI models
  • Your use of the local server feature
  • Your use of third-party AI services

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. You waive your right to participate in class actions.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

17. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes by:

  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Posting a notice in the App (for material changes)
  • Sending an email notification to registered users (for significant changes)

Your continued use of the App after any changes to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the App.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and InferrLM regarding the use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
